DIY Woven Bread Basket - Guide and Materials

• Wooden base Ø22 cm
• 3mm rattan rods
• 2mm rattan rods
• 3mm cork tape
• Pruning scissors
• Beeswax balm

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Preparation:

   • Cut 31 rods of 3mm rattan, each 40 cm long. Also, cut 6-8 long rods in bundles of 2mm rattan.
   • Apply beeswax balm to the wooden base to protect the wood and make it easier to work with.

2. Setting the rods:

   • Start by making a simple closure at the front and insert the rods into the wooden base.

3. Side weaving:

   • Weave 10 rows of plain weave (basic weaving pattern).
   • Use the cork tape to create 5 rows of canvas weave, which adds both a decorative touch and extra strength.
   • Continue with 10 rows of plain weave.

4. Finishing the edge:

   • Finish the edge with a double cross-weave. Fold the outer edge over to ensure the basket's stability and to give it a neat finish.
